Jennifer Angaiak Wood is a Yup’ik artist whose work is based in historic design and story. She adds contemporary elements by adding other materials and found items. The goal is to honor and acknowledge the ancestors’ work while continuing the growth and change that naturally occurs as time passes. As an indigenous person, it is important to Jennifer to push back on the common expectation that Native peoples remain in the past using only historic methods and materials in order for us to be seen as living, breathing members of society.
All proceeds go towards the United Indians' programs and services which support the urban Native community.
