Made by Michelle Parker, Oglala and Sicangu Lakota, a sewist with over 30 years of experience sewing, and 24 years of quilting. She comes from a multigeneration sewing and quilting family, learning from her grandmother, Ione Pearl Cottier, and her mother, Monica Byington. Michelle hand cuts, pieces, and sews her quilts, and does her own quilting(decorative topstitching) at home.
As a first generation Urban Native, Michelle invites you to explore where the identity of a person or tribe begins and who makes the boundaries and at what point does the outsider become a member, with her.
